Never…Never…Never…Never Give Up!

It seems the issue of president-elect Obama’s citizenship has NOT yet been resolved.

Yep, that old fake birth certificate controversy apparently lives on. This from the LA Times:

But here's the thing: The United States Supreme Court officially takes up the issue of whether to ponder whether Obama can become president in formal discussions today in Washington.

The complete article can be found here. But how do you like this irony?

In one of those delicious ironies that makes life so interesting, the justice who distributed the case to his colleagues was none other than Thomas, only the second African American to sit on the high court. One presumes the justices saw some legal issue to mull.

Seems there is a legal avalanche ready to tumble downhill from a multitude of suits filed nationwide claiming either Obama is not a natural born citizen or renounced his citizenship at some point.
Got to hand it to the right wingnuts – they sure never give up!

  2. One more irony: Winston Churchill's mother was American. At the time of his birth, Obama's father was a citizen of the British realm. Not exactly a mutual and fair exchange, it it?

It seems the issue of president-elect Obama’s citizenship has NOT yet been resolved.

The issue is resolved in the minds of reasonable people; the claimants are crackpots, NOT reasonable people.

  3. These are probably the same people who kept accusing the Clintons of murdering Vince Foster. Remember that? They are quite impervious to rational thought, and will continue to insist that Obama isn't American throughout his years in office. Sometimes, as in the Hopkins poem, people's worst punishment is simply to be "their sweating selves."

On a more positive note, I've read that the Gov. of New York is considering appointing Caroline Kennedy-Schlossberg to Hillary's senate seat. I think that would be an excellent choice!

  4. We saw Caroline on the news tonight and my husband turned to me and said,"That's your first female president."
Depending what she does as a senator, I could consider her as a prez candidate in the future.
As for the birth certificate conspiracy theorists; I hope this keeps them busy for at least the next four years -

  5. Yes, but the more important issue is Churchill and the V for Victory sign that the domestic breed calls "the peace sign" with no recognition of the irony.

Now, I'm not exactly British, but I'm fairly certain that the two finger sign means something different when the back of the hand faces the observer. I believe it's their equivalent of "the bird"

  6. I actually used Churchill's image only because the title is a quote of his. I chose the victory/peace sign because I like the idea of letting people decide what it means.
Personally I think he was ordering two papers of fish and chips!
