The McCain Campaign is unloading their surplus property this week in Arlington,VA. I'm surprised that they didn't put the laptops, Blackberrys and folding chairs up for sale on eBay, but perhaps the failure of Sarah Palin to sell that surplus Airplane on eBay (despite the fact that McCain said it sold at a profit) was a lesson to them. Too bad, I'd have liked to run some undelete software on one of those bargain laptops and see what kind of porn the righteous right prefers.
But one thing we aren't seeing is that fantastic wardrobe of Sarah Palin's -- the one she claimed would be returned to the GOP after the campaign. She certainly seemed well and expensively dressed when she was cheerleading for Chandless. Nothing she wore looked like the small town resale shop she claims to frequent, but perhaps I'm being premature. Perhaps it just takes longer to remove the stains of hypocrisy and the odor of mendacity than it does to erase those Blackberrys and hard drives.
- RIM Blackberry 8700c for $30.00.
ReplyDelete- Folding chairs for $3.60 each.
- A 55-cup steel coffee urn for $77.00.
- A power strip for $1
Hmm ... power strip ... thats what happens when you have to give back all those clothes

ReplyDeleteYou wax poetic, Fogg - very eloquently put!
My dear Fogg,
ReplyDeleteThis is the SwashZone's feminist conscience speaking . . .
"Bitch" is a sexist, insulting term. SP was and still is a bad idea. There are many adjectives that do her justice. That is not one of them. During the primaries we democrats - or at least some of us - screamed & yelled about Hilary being referred to as a bitch because it reduced her candidacy to being solely about her gender. By the same token we all screamed & yelled whenever Obama's race was used to reduce his candidacy to being solely about race. By calling, even obliquely, Palin a bitch we are reducing the bad choice of Palin to being about gender. yes - McCain picked her cynically for her gender. Let's not reduce politics to his sexist level by referring to her in such a reductive, sexist fashion. Let's be better than McCain.
Please - may we learn the lesson of the blatant sexism aimed at the HClinton's candidacy & stop fueling our political anger with gendered fire.
Sorry, Fogg. But nothing stings a squid like that word. It's use reminds me, even far down here in the depths of the sea, how far we all haven't come.
So let's hear it for equality of language for cephalopods (?) & you unfortunate creatures forced to walk the planet.
