The Oil Disaster -- a Good Site to Visit

The following site (frequented by engineers) has a live video feed of the oil flowing into the Gulf, and an animation of the Top-Kill procedure currently taking place: http://www.theoildrum.com/.  If this works, at least the well will be killed off and the flow halted.  I've been watching the live feed and it looks like the mud is flowing -- here's hoping that's a good sign.

  1. Thanks for that, Dino.

PBS Newshour also has good coverage of the disaster, including a gallery of heartbreaking photos documenting (the beginning of) the wildlife's devastation, by Gerald Herbert.

  2. Di niente, Elizabeth -- and thanks for the PBS mention. Now as for that idea for a new sensationalist post, sure, be my guest.

  3. The videos are dramatic and infuriating. The wildlife photos are stunning and heartbreaking. I just want to cry out in anger, frustration and sadness.

  4. There is something about the Top Kill video feed that doesn't look right. It looks "engineered."
