No Muslims here!

I have to be thankful to the Anti-Defamation League, for without them, I might not be living here and they've done much to silence the skinheads and neo-Nazis and Jew haters that would still kill us all if they could. They've done much to get Church printing presses to stop printing the infamous "protocols" fraud and making them stop teaching that kill Christian babies for their blood. But as I've said countless times, being persecuted doesn't make one virtuous.

The ADL has jumped on the out of control bandwagon, protesting the building of the "Ground Zero Mosque" which isn't a mosque and isn't at Ground Zero. I don't know how to describe that without displaying it as offensive to the freedom of religion which is one of the few things an American can point to as being fundamentally American in origin, albeit no longer unique.

To what do we owe the self-righteous attitude behind it? We're furious at a group of terrorists almost small enough to fill a school bus and most of whom are dead: so furious that we don't want anyone to worship the God of Abraham in a different way within our sight. So furious that we will ignore the prohibition against establishing a religion as permissible or not permissible or restricting the rights of one as opposed to another. If Muslims have no right to a community center in New York, they have no right to a community and if they have not that, we have not reason to see this as a country worth supporting

  1. I agree this is a disturbing situation fraught with fascist overtones and undertones.
As you have pointed out, this is neither a mosque nor is it at ground zero but rather 3 or more blocks away. In New York City, a few blocks is like the next town in rural areas.
Between the right wing nuts and the left wing nuts, I'm feeling squeezed in pretty tightly. Getting hard to breathe in this country.

  2. I know, it's so ridiculous. All the Wingers are jumping on that bandwagon of fear and hate. I wonder if they have ever gone a single day without raising those kinds of baiting statements to the brain cell challenged ditto heads. Once again where's the MSM telling truth of what's being construed.

  3. "where's the MSM telling truth?"

As Mr. Ailes said, they're not in the news business, they're in the ratings business and rage sells better than sex. Fox Folk DO NOT question Fox -- ever. They just say MSNBC and giggle over the obvious (to them) joke. Sad thing, is that forbidding a certain religion to do what other religions can do is not conservative or liberal -- it's just illegal.

  4. Captain, I share your disappointment with the ADL. Of all people, one would think the ADL would understand the consequences of scapegoating an entire people ... within the historical context of the Holocaust.

Hypocritical and shameful. It disgusts me too.

Tim is right. This is being instigated by the right wing, who have nothing positive to offer the American people beyond anger, hatred, suspicion, and a ritual sacrifice to advance their political ambitions. To hell with them!

  5. People. People.

Let's hear the wise words of a true statesman:

"There should be no mosque near Ground Zero in New York so long as there are no churches or synagogues in Saudi Arabia. The time for double standards that allow Islamists to behave aggressively toward us while they demand our weakness and submission is over."

  6. I'm disappointed and can't imagine what prompted the ADL to make such a poor decision.

But I've just about given up on everything I once believed in.

  7. Armchair crusaders like Newt almost require a new definition of hypocrisy which includes a large measure of hubris, arrogance and dishonesty.

What about "there shall be no more jihad against Clinton while I'm screwing the interns too?"

Remember when he was caught making illegal deals on this cell phone and the response was to make it illegal to build a radio that could receive 800 MHz?

Good old Newt, good old GOP, may they all die soon and die slowly and in disgrace.

Muslims -- as much as they may hate and malign me, when it comes to them Vs. Newtonians, I'm on their side anyway.

  8. Captain, I share your feelings on a very personal level. My home state of North Carolina had a 300% increase in its Hispanic population as of the 2000 census. I expect that when all the 2010 numbers are in there will be another substantial increase. As the Hispanic population has increased, so has the bigotry against them. What I was not prepared for and still cannot fathom is the strength of African-American prejudice against Hispanics. Far too many of my people make the same bigoted commentary and enact the same disgraceful racism against Hispanics that we ourselves have suffered. For years, there has been a coalition of Blacks and Hispanics working together to combat this divide so all is not hopeless but I feel shame and frustration that such bias even exists. Being oppressed does not teach one to refrain from becoming an oppressor. This is one of the most dificult truths that I have had to face. It fills me with despair. If those who have sufferd the lash are willing to become wielders of the lash, then what hope is there for humankind?

  9. When Rocky posted her analysis of Arizona crime statistics some weeks ago, what struck me was the uptick in hate crimes at a time when overall crime stats were at a historic low. Specifically, crimes of bias had doubled in Arizona from 2005 to 2009.

I never imagined any municipality or state government would adopt Sharia Law; yet two states (Louisiana and Oklahoma) have perceived such a threat and passed laws to prevent implementation. It reminds me of the joke in Alexander King's May this house be safe from tigers. Since there are never any tigers, see ... it works.

When the right-wingers have nothing to offer, they always take the low road ... trading on hate and hysteria.

  10. It's a time honored American tradition since our earliest times. Why hope that it will somehow change now that the rest of the world has?
