Stephen Broden, a Republican running for Congress in Texas' 30th District, said he would not rule out a violent overthrow of the government if the midterm elections don't cause a change in government, saying that "our nation was founded on violence" so "the option is on the table."A constitutional remedy, oh, really! And I thought elections were about the peaceful transition of power. You know, the will of the people! Majority rule! Ballots, not bullets. That sort of stuff. Here is another sandbox bully bullshitter hell bent on availing himself of his “second amendment remedies” … just in case the sore loser loses.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Broden said in a TV interview yesterday: "We have a constitutional remedy here and the Framers says [sic] if that don't [sic] work, revolution.
Next year, perhaps Election Day should coincide with Halloween, and the Republicans should call themselves:
Ghouls On Parade
Apparently this Mr. Broden has added violent kooks to the republican base of bigots, homophobes and religious zealots to be pandered to.
ReplyDeleteMake that Pastor Broden.

As I recall, there is a term for
ReplyDelete'violent overthrow of the government'.
Mentioned three times in Article 3,
Section 3....
Oh great, another crazy reich wing nut who huffs and who puffs, and who threatens to blow the house down....
ReplyDeleteIs it me or does their seem to be an element of kooky within christianity nowadays....
....oh thats right the world is coming to an end because DADT is on the verge of being history and DOMA is next.
...and of course Obama is the Angel of Death....
Damn! You can feed these people anything!
I hope more and more Independents are getting turned off by this kind of rhetoric and I hope fair weather Democrats will rethink their dangerous and very stupid idea of not voting. Gawd!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this, (O)CT(O). I started a post on it for PE, but kept getting prompts from Blogger that there was an error in the text I wrote. Don't know why. I just couldn't publish it.
ReplyDeleteHow amazing is it that the GOP has always prided itself on its patriotism and yet the crazies in the TP advocate the trashing of the Constitution and now treason.
And among their candidates for office are a self-identified occult dabbler and a homophobic, smut enabler.
How in god's green teeth can these people be threatening to take the reins of power in America?
Well they tried it once before. Let them try it again.
ReplyDeleteRally To Restore Sanity, here I come and just in the nick of time.
ReplyDeleteI keep trying to remember that news outlets sell advertising, so they have a vested interest in upping the ante on insanity.
Do people like Broden ever think before speaking? He needs to re-read the Constitution and pay close attention to the part about treason.
ReplyDeleteArmed insurrection to restore a God appointed state church leader who none the less carries out the will of "the masses" as determined by the feudal lords of industry. It's like putting George III, Robespierre, Bonaparte and Marx in a blender and dissolving the constitution in the resulting and revolting mess.
ReplyDeleteNot just treason, but a baptism of barf, if you will -- not washed clean, not born again, but dirty, damned and half drowned.
