Just in case any of you old-timers were getting nostalgic for the 1970s. After all, it was only about forty years ago that Cadillac wheels and newly designed trucks revolutionized skateboarding. See you next year! Here's hoping it's the best year yet for everyone.
Old timer indeed -- I'm more nostalgic for the 40's, but I second your motion for a happy new year.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to all, and s Very Happy New Year as well.
ReplyDeleteMe, I'm more nostalgic for the 50's and early
60's. But, the 70's do nicely in a pinch.
But really, good American jazz of Amy decade, not that's really something to be nostalgic over. Timeless, regardless of decade, wouldn't' you agrre
Nothing like living in the past. A hobby for you conservatives.
DeleteWhat the fuck is that supposed to mean? Do you type just for the exercise or is that a hobby for you assholes?
Delete1940s would have been perfect if it wasn't for the war. Enjoy the vocal harmony groups so much. Pied Pipers singing "Mairzy Doats."
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love Jazz. Late 1950s was a very epic time with Thelonius, Coltrane, Dizzie & Ellington still going strong. Cerebral stuff.
Mom and Dad were reminiscing this morning about the world-wide peace of the early 1950s. Not really without war or conflict of any kind, but not too bad either.
You named some of the greats. FJ. I love Miles Davis and Charlie Parker as well. More on the big bad side, Stan Kenton and Maynard Ferguson.
DeleteOh yeah, great music. Vocals, Billie Holiday.
Not old enough to remember the war but I do remember Korea. Seems that there hasn't been that much peace in my time, but Jazz -- of course and the Blues, absolutely.
DeleteMerry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and an Excellent New Year to everyone!
ReplyDeleteDuring the holiday get-togethers, I caught a very bad case of Alzheimer's Bulimia. After eating everything in sight, I forgot to throw up.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, my mother's 99-year old live-in companion (whom I call her "toy boy") was rushed to the ER and went into surgery. I moved her temporarily to my house because she can no longer live on her own - don't ask! The toy boy's family visited him today. In comparison, they make Mister Magoo look like Albert Einstein.
