CPAC ended yesterday with the traditional burning of the Reichstag. That has nothing to do with anything else I'm typing; I just wanted to put it out there.
Full disclosure: my father was born in Steubenville, Ohio. Despite that, there have been no suggestions that he ever raped anyone.
However, some high school football players in Ohio filmed themselves raping a woman, and, surprisingly, were convicted (as juveniles, but hey, that's more justice than we usually get); the Right Wing, continuing their outreach to women, explained that it was her fault, because she wasn't wearing a burka and staying locked in the house like a dutiful girl should. Oh, and slut slut SLUT!!!
And across the country yesterday, thousands of men celebrated Irish stereotypes, drank heavily in public, and weren't raped. And the GOP failed to see the irony in that.
I cannot imagine an Irish male Republican, drunk in public and hailing from Steubenville, being raped. Then again, I have a very poor imagination (for a cephalopod).

ReplyDeleteRight wing sympathy for rapists is understandable for obvious reasons -- as understandable as their sympathy for corporate crooks and public toilet Romeos.
None of this is new however. Republican ancestors had longer arms and lived in trees when it all began.
If, as has been suggested by a number of idiots, the young woman had had a gun, she might have whacked allathem badboyz. Strangely, that appears, to them, an adequate response.
ReplyDeleteIdiots are idiots and can't be expected to know that it's illegal to carry or possess a gun when you're 16 and worse if you're drunk. We should have got rid of those oppressive laws long ago and then it wouldn't have been illegal in the first place and our daughters not in danger. A nine year old is a citizen, you know. A citizen with constitutional rights! If more of them were packing and drinking we wouldn't have all these pederasts.
