Abominable Idolatry!

Abominable Idolatry!  Pretty spectacular language for an era so far removed from the Iron age, but then The United States is always an exception.

“Do you hear me ladies? It is an abominable idolatry to love your children more than you love your husband, and it will ruin your marriage. And yet you blame it on him because he ran off with some other woman!"

Them are fightin' words, from the fightin' preacher Det  Bowers whom you probably never heard of if you're not from South Carolina. You're probably never heard a name like Det either and I can only speculate that it's short for something embarrassing, but anyway Detritus is trying to add Senator to his resume' by entering the primary to challenge Lindsey Graham and although that sermon may have gathered some Amens from the flock, Detestable may have thought better about letting cynics or sane people or "the ladies" for that matter, hear it and he pulled it from the archives of  his former employer, Christ Church of the Carolinas.

Seek and ye shall find, as the Bible says and Politico resurrected it.

“You just ran him off. You paid more attention to your children than you did to him,” he said. “‘Oh, he doesn’t need me?’ He needs you more than they do. He chose you, they didn’t. An abominable idolatry.”

So sure, God thinks men need women more than children need women for some reason probably related to the certainty that God is a man. Yep, it's "Abominable Idolatry" and  that means "unlawful Worship" as if the US or even South Carolina had laws regulating worship, if not guns.  Good old Detumescence, or maybe it's (or should be) Detox.  Det Bowers is a snake who wouldn't know a moral from a feral hog if he found himself in bed with it, but he's what South Carolina has become, what the Republican Party has become and if the Devil and a deranged public allows it, what America may yet become -- and that's abominable.

  3. Funny thing about the way modern child protection laws are written. Any parent who abuses or neglects a child will likely go to prison, and the kid will be taken into protective custody. But in the minds of charlatans, women must cleave to their husbands and consign themselves to lives of blowjobs on demand. Perhaps the odor of roasted babies pleases the Lord.

Oh nohz! Here is another example of “abominable idolatry:”Woman brutally beaten and tortured in front of her kids.

Or this one: Teacher beaten to death by her husband.

If an “abominable idolatry" exists, it issues from the rogue ravings of people like Bowers who drip venom and ignorance from their tongues.

In South Carolina, it appears, charlatans are as plentiful as dog shit.

  4. Unfortunately for every dog turd Bible Blowhard, there are countless "believers" and not only in South Carolina. Christianity is not unique in it's contempt for and suspicion of women, but Christianity is what we call the religion of most Americans even though it's only a loose conglomeration of denominations with different attitudes. The idea of male domination is as much derived from forms of Judaism as it is from Roman and Mesopotamian attitudes but wherever it came from it serves to prove that all the baggage that family of faiths carries with it outweighs, in my opinion, anything important or original to it. Perhaps it's beyond being saved by evolutionary change much less a simple housecleaning but since it's been re-inventing itself since the inception maybe it's time once more.

    "New occasions teach new duties
and time makes ancient good uncouth"

    -James Russell Lowell-

From a poem he wrote protesting the war with Mexico.

"Once to every man and nation, comes the moment to decide,
In the strife of truth with falsehood, for the good or evil side;"

And of course it's always true. It's time to decide, "Christians" if you're still on the side of the uncouth, the evil, the falshood -- the evil and evil it is no matter what the Bible pounders tell you.

  5. I do love all your various guesses at the full name for Det. Other than that, I have ceased to be outraged when some batshit crazy Khristian male erupts and spills over, spewing yet more Debris all over wimmens. As if children weren't vulnerable enough and at the mercy of pedophiles, abusers, neglectful drug addled parents. Yes, let's make them even more devalued and put them in some greater mortal danger. And shouldn't that woman be shuffling 10 steps behind her man and all the Negroes singing in the cotton fields.... The scary part is how many people actually kneel at the altar of Kraziness and yearn for those "old days" when we all knew our place, don't you know.

  6. And don't forget that Arizona Arsehole preacher who says birth control makes women into whores. Yes, it's scary, but someone from Mars arriving here and reading the newspaper would assume that American pulpits are occupied by dangerous raving lunatics who just stepped out of a time machine. Dee-sgusting.

How is it that a religion that had its origin in liberating a certain people from tyranny has become one of tyranny? Tyranny it is and tyranny it was called by our founding fathers. Why does it seek to undermine the law and it's basis in the will of the governed? Why does it blame women, identify them with disobedience to God and to males? Why does the attractiveness of women to men enrage priests and prophets and politicians? Why is so much of modern American religion simply about sex? Western religion says some very ugly things about male sexual problems, doesn't it?
