There's no end to it, there's no law against it and there's no defense against these insurgents using our freedom of speech against us. There's no shortage of people to believe it, act on it, vote in favor of it and of course your own petty politics will keep you from doing anything about it, right?
You might consider this comment hasty and a bit premature, I am seriously thinking about leaving the country and have started investigating my options. These latest outbreaks of violence from the Trump campaign are criminal. I can longer live in a country that enables this shit.
ReplyDeleteWell, if you're going to do it, haste makes sense. Escape from America isn't as easy as it once was by any means. I understand that the number of people renouncing US citizenship is at an all time high, but even then, if you manage it, they'll be after you for taxes for ten years and you won't be able to find a bank in Europe that will let you open an account if you were born in the US. US birth is a bit like the mark of Cain. I know, I have family in Europe.
ReplyDeleteThe techniques mirror the Nazi techniques, The violence seems tactical the scapegoating, the anger mongering -- but since we have the non-stop news misrepresenting things, making the few voices louder and the many voices seem distant, I'm still hopeful that this 40% of a 30% party isn't going to go very far. Yes I see Trump signs everywhere, but there were Goldwater signs everywhere in 1964 and I tend to notice those signs because they're so jarringly idiotic and seem so out of place in this century. We've gone through it before though, back in 1900 to 1920 and again in the 30's and again in the 60's: all those times ehwn America was great according to some and a nightmare according to others.
At this point in my life I'm too tied down to imagine leaving for anything less than a cataclysm and even then. I don't like to travel any more, but I do understand, really I do.
I think Trump will do to the GOP what Goldwater did and much more. I hope it's the slap in the face they need but after calling up those demons and then abandoning them, the backlash might be impetus for a third party, brown shirts, white sheets and all. One way or another it's going to be an interesting time to be an American, but even if we're reduced to a wind swept waste, every desert need a vox clamantis deserto, no?

Ha, you should see some of the comments we get.. It is also for us liberals to laugh at the Conservatives the refuse to do any research.. It's hard to know who is talking here, so I'm reluctant to comment. If we're seeing the death of the Republicans here, I'd be surprised. Anything could come of this.
