Disturbing news coming out of Mexico about U.S. security consultant Felix Batista being kidnapped which has become, once again, a rising problem in Mexico. According to this article:
“Coahuila state law enforcement officials who were not authorized to be quoted by name said Batista had been giving talks to local police officials and businessmen on how to prevent or avoid kidnappings.”
“Coahuila state law enforcement officials who were not authorized to be quoted by name said Batista had been giving talks to local police officials and businessmen on how to prevent or avoid kidnappings.”
I really hope this situation has a good outcome and that Batista is returned safely, but can you imagine all these people who he’s been advising? All those prevention tips? Toss them in the trash, barricade all the doors and lock and load because it’s going to be a long night in old Mexico!
I don't think it's plausibly deniable that it's all about our idiotic drug prohibition that hasn't had any success since it's inception in 1937 and has created more crime than the Volstead act -- something we put an end to for exactly that reason.
ReplyDeleteWe are directly financing terrorists, pirates and the world's scum de la scum with our damned "war" against personal responsibility, freedom and the pursuit of happiness.
Heh. He didn't take his own advice. And I think you're right Fogg, the rise is because of the drug war. We're pumping buckets of money there right now for the new Plan. It's going to be another Colombia in no time.
ReplyDeleteAnd the solution is so simple and so reasonable; decriminalize at least the so called "soft" drugs. Without the risk, the price would drop, the government could control the production and distribution much like alcohol and cigarettes. I know Obama probably isn't going to be the change in regards to this, but maybe soon the tide will turn.
ReplyDeleteObama is definitely not the change here. He just came out yesterday and definitively said he's against legalization. It's going to take public pressure but good luck getting people to focus on that, even though it would save a ton of money.
