Millions, billions, trillions. . .

I'm pretty new to Twitter, but the place sounds like an aviary today with all the giggling about Sean Hannity's statement that Acorn, the subject of much hilarity this week, is slated to receive eight and a half TRILLION dollars from the government. I'm not sure that Sean is aware that the Census bureau dropped ACORN a week ago as Fox reported. Even so - $8,500,000,000,000.00? Sean, thousands, millions billions trillions -- there's a difference!

So I'm wondering if maybe the next time I call him Insanity Hannity y'all won't say I'm over the top? I mean, I'm just sayin'.

  1. Picky. Picky. Picky.

Fact is them commie bastards at ACORN is gettin' a lot of money.

And what's with the pen anyway? Throw in some zeroes to emphasize a 'large truth' when the facts are a bit inconvenient?

  2. What difference does a few zeros make? We are going to borrow the amount and never pay it back...

    So lets PARTY!

    Give'm a zillion!

  3. Well, the funny part is that while Fox was ranting about how much we're giving ACORN Congress had already cut them off in a very bipartisan vote.

  4. Damn Congress, they ruin all of Fox News' fun...now Fox News will have to find someone else to torment...

Then, by cutting their funding it makes it appear as if Fox News is running the show...

    Democracy by Cable News...

  5. Arthurstone, is ACORN is a "commie" organization because they're attempting to get poor people to vote? Republican politicans know that the more Americans who show up at the polls - AND vote their interests - the greater the possibility the wealthy will be overruled (and the Republican party which represents the wealthy will lose power).

Arthurstone, that is democracy, NOT communism.

The attacks against ACORN have always been about voter supression. Despite the fact that several ACORN employees have recently been caught on tape (apparently) trying to bring down ACORN from the inside.

Capt. Fogg said... Congress had already cut them off in a very bipartisan vote.

Rep. Wexler and some other Democrats who voted against defunding ACORN did so because they regarded the action as an unconstitutional "bill of attainder". A bill of attainder, forbidden in Article I, Section IX of the constitution, is a legislative act that imposes punishment on a specific person or group without a trial or hearing...

While I agree with Mr. Wexler's vote, I'm not sure I agree with his reasoning. ACORN obviously has some employee problems, but they have ordered an independent investigation. Which I think is the right first step to take.

Chief exec Bertha Lewis says, "We have all been deeply disturbed by what we've seen in some of these videos. [and that ACORN} will go to whatever lengths necessary to re-establish the public trust".

Republicans have hounded ACORN merciliously. They found a couple of idiot (now fired) employees and filmed entrapment videos... and the Democrats cave? I'm sick of Democrats caving to Republican pressure.

ACORN should not be defunded. There should NOT be equal Republican representation on the Baccus Finance Committee. Van Jones should NOT have resigned.

Why are the Democrats allowing the minority party this kind of power????

Republican Governors of Louisiana, Bobby Jindal, and Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota have both cut off state funding for ACORN. And made very public shows of it (Jindal issued a press release). But neither LA or MN provided any state funding to ACORN to begin with!

Jindal also refused stimulus money, was overruled by his state legislature, and then made a show of touring the state handing out novelty-sized stimulus checks with his signature on them!
