Too much business

It's one of those things many Obama supporters hoped he would do, and do quickly. It's also one of those things nobody should have expected him to be able to do given any amount of time. I'm talking about the malignant, corrupting influence of unfettered, and unlimited lobbying.

Amidst the chorus singing about too much government influence in the oil industry being the culprit in the Gulf Oil Disaster (along with the president, of course) isn't it time to listen to the quiet voices trying to remind us that it's too much business involvement in Government that's corrupting both sectors? Of course they're quiet only in comparison, because the volume of noise is directly proportional to the volume of oil bucks and Gas bucks and the volume of Republican/Corporate money wells pumping away at the opportunity to make even more through more obfuscation and deregulation.

If The Washington Post has it right and 3 out of 4 oil and gas lobbyists were formerly part of the Federal Government, we have to believe that congress isn't going to find fault with a practice that can offer lucrative employment to the departing congressman or the promise of election support that opens the spigot of campaign financing from those industries. No, I don't see Obama doing much about it. In fact I don't see us or anyone else doing much about it. We just can't afford to compete.

  1. No Drama Obama I'm afraid won't tackle this problem. Already Dems are crying that big business is mad at them and told them to go pound salt when they asked for donations.
This is a case of what happens when the dog bites it's owners hand.
On this one I don't see the Great Appeaser taking a stand.

  2. Like a virus, the elitists and their government pawns will, unfortunately, kill their host and I think the infection is too well established to rid ourselves of the parasites.

I often wonder if we'll be witnesses to the death of the host during our generation.

  3. No, I don't think Obama will tackle this, both because he has too much else on his plate and because the people with the power to make it impossible for him to do anything are making it impossible for him to do anything. It's just like the way they made Clinton look like a do-nothing with the Monica nonsense.

The example of how his administration folded when attacked by that stinking piece of human garbage Breitbart staged his latest fraud and libel show. Sure, it's easy to attack him for being gutless, but then you're not doing shit to help the situation, are you? The media and their corporate owners and the mass of angry white mediocrities are happy to have their prophecies become self fulfilling and indeed they are.

    Boomer,

I'm afraid I don't understand. Our government was designed to be run by an elite, white, male, educated minority. It's because we've roused the rabble, made them furious with lies and distortions furnished by the financial elite that our country is beyond redemption and probably will wind up like France did after their revolution and for the same reasons.

  4. Publicly Funded Elections.

Until we get a handle on this issue nothing will change in the way Washington does business.
