Why I did not vote Republican (and why you should not): I REMEMBER!

Don't mean to step on anyone's toes, but I thought this was worth posting on this important day.)

  1. I've read this text somewhere before, but haven't seen the video. It is very good. Thanks, Shaw.

  2. The question is ... how could anyone forget!

  3. I hope enough people remember and vote with integrity and intelligence.

  4. I posted this on my blog, too. I think it says it all.

I voted, for the first time in my life, a straight Democratic ticket. It felt weird but any party that gives credence to the teabaggers and Sarah Palin does not deserve my vote. I was raised to look at the candidate not the party but, sadly, this year that wasn't possible.

  5. Shaw,

Thanks for this. Indeed! Those 'publicans have been pretty much wrong on everything since the mid-Jurassic. I know -- I was there, and I have a memory, too, just like the people in the video.

  6. Speaker Bachmann, eh? Hmmmm.... I must admit that she's a damn sight better looking than John Boehner could ever hope to be. I don't care how much time he spends in the tanning parlor, Michele really has him there, what with those sparkling blue eyes and dark hair. I've always been a sucker for that combo....

Okay, so I guess that will be my principle for the next two years if the Dems lose the Congress: I disagree with them all, so I'll just favor the Republicans who are easiest on the eye.

Now get out there and vote Democrat so I don't have to spend 2011-12 revealing myself as the shallow, lascivious aesthete I really am! I'm begging you -- this is my last chance to retain at least SOME dignity!

  7. 8:35 - Grim news: Rubio and Paul have won.
    Grayson and Kosmas have lost.

  8. Octo,

I think those were expected losses -- I reckoned the GOP would go after Grayson because he's outspoken, and he'd get trounced, which is what's happening. He'll find good things to do all the same -- he's a major voice for progressives. Rand Paul I always thought would win, no matter what hopelessly misguided utterances issued from his mouth.

I think Manchin is doing well in the senate seat in West Virginia, which is good for Dems.

  9. Rick Scott (of $1.7 billion medicare fraud fame) is ahead in the Florida governor race ... this is my worst nightmare.

  10. Great video, too bad so many Americans have selective memory loss.

One bit of joy in my evening is Christine O'Donnell's solid loss to Coons in Delaware. All the country has not gone mad.
