NORMAN MCLAREN - REVISITED

Pound, pound, pound … sometimes I feel as if I am on the wrong end of a pile driver. The constant bickering between Rhett or Rick is wearing me down.

Almost two years ago, I posted this short, stop-motion animation by Normal McLaren who won an Oscar for Best Documentary (Short Subject) in 1953.  Yikes: 1953!  You would think we would have learned something in the past half century, in the past 234 years since the republic was born, in the past 6,000 years of recorded history …

Never mind: Just watch the damn film (and pay attention).

  1. Octo: One would think that in almost 60 years we’d have learned something! You can almost forgive those in the “primitive” years. But NOW? With all the technology, our supposed advanced knowledge and the “best” health care in the world! We SHOULD know better! Shame on us! At this rate we’ll destroy ourselves within the next 60 years and rightfully so.

Pamela, it is not too late. There are creatures in this fabled place that have transformed themselves from human beings into other species. We have talking cephalopods, talking dinosaurs, talking raccoons, even a talking silicon chip. Never too late, save yourself and climb aboard.

Question: What would you like to change yourself into?

  3. What, do you spect them to share lawns? That's COMMUNISM, bud. All it proves to me, is since Dandelions are not indigenous to the Americas and were brought here by illegal immigrants from Europe, we ought to pay more attention to stopping Immigration! The fence should have been put up across New York harbor!

So what were these guys supposed to do anyway? Can't trust the liberal activist courts to decide whose problem that weed is and weed control is beyond the constitutional powers of the Government. Nothing about weeds in there unless you mean Weed which is another matter. God doesn't like weed and that came to me in a vision the other day when I was stoned.

But anyway, back to the real world, I'm sure you libtard pansies are gonna bring up fence picket control, like ya alles do. After all, fences don't bludgeon their neighbors to death, Liberals do. Says so in the Bible -- or maybe that was Glenn Beck. Same thing anyway, right?

  5. By the way, what happened to Version 2.0? Details, details, dear Captain.

  6. Poo-Tee--Weet?

In Vonnegut's "Slaughterhous Five" the bird song showed up in the text when there was nothing rational to say about war. No words can accurately describe the horror of war.

I think I may change back into limulus polyphemus.

  7. Fantastic choice, dear Shaw! Here they are ... demonstrating to the world how to love thy neighbor (ahh ... the advantages of being a gelatinous, carbon-based life form).

Just some hacker -- some Liberal hacker, more than likely, since they attempt humor and machines and Republicans never get it.

  9. Brilliant film short and one which I had not seen. We certainly have much ground to travel as a species.

  10. Excellent video that sends a strong message! I hope that we'll learn but experience tells me that we won't.
