Obama's bear market

"No thanks, that lifeboat has more equipment than I think it needs, Who could have expected the Liberals to put that iceberg there ( doesn't iceberg sound Jewish?) and besides there's no first class section where my Gucci shoes won't get wet . I think we should all go down with the ship."
Back When George W. Bush set in motion the auto-destruct cycle for our economy, it was customary for the professional blowhards to explain that he had inherited a recession and so it wasn't really fair or proper to call it Bush's recession and since the bubble began to inflate, perhaps we shouldn't call it a recession at all. ( Dow's up, don't bitch that your income isn't.)

Now of course Bush's Debacle is Obama's Bear according to Bloomberg and we can be sure the Republicans at Fox News will explain to us just how he caused it all with his socialist machinations. The recent losses are, says Fox, the market voting against Obama. Let's not dwell on the election they lost when the people voted against Bush.

Unfortunately the Republicans won't go down with this ship. They'll be trying to climb on our shoulders. screaming about "principles" while we drown.

  1. Wow! How out of touch are wingnuts when their own favorite news outlet contradicts them.

According to a Fox News Poll:
"What do you think the nation's economy needs more of right now -- the economic policies of Ronald Reagan or the economic policies of Barack Obama?"
    Answer: Obama 49%, Reagan 40%.

And how about this question: "Do you support or oppose raising taxes on households earning over $250,000 a year and, at the same time, lowering taxes for most other households?"
    Answer: Support 66%, Oppose 30%.

Fox News, believe it or not!

  2. Obama said Buy, buy, buy...
    I say to Obama...Bye, bye!

  3. Bob: After 9/11, former President Bush said: "Go shopping."

Inasmuch as there are two presidents of different parties ... each trying to rally the public in much the same ways ... your dismissal of one and scorn of the other is contradictory and hypocritical.

Your comment contributes nothing of value to this thread except empty invective.

  4. Lately I have been struggling to get my young child to understand the concept of taking responsibility for said child's actions. I explain to my child that it's ok to make mistakes but that one must acknowledge them, learn from them, own them & move upward & onward.

It seems to me that what politics & politicians need today - of both parties (Repubs esp!) is remedial parenting.

  5. SQUID: remedial parenting

A mighty good phrase, and one that confirms Obama's words about acting like grown-ups.

Beneath the hot rhetoric, what I think is really happening: We are in the midst of a paradigm shift, and traditional folks don't manage change very well.

There is also fear ... fear of losing jobs, homes, assets, and retirement accounts. Fear of be being forced to change the way one thinks about the world. And fear that demagogues will exploit for nefarious purposes.

TAO commented yesterday about how dictators came to power by exploiting people's fears and angers during times economic hardship. The political noise we hear is an expression of such anger and fear. Very dangerous times we are in, I share these concerns.

  6. Bob! Can I have some of that weed man? I thought it was CNBC's Cramer who said buy buy buy the day before the world ended, that AIG and Lehman were sound buys. I thought it was Fox News who said we're only hearing economic bad news because of the LIBERALS and we're not hearing all the good news in Iraq because of the LIBERALS.

Come on man - just one toke. . .

TAO is right again - that's why the more screaming you hear about Communism and Socialism, the more you need to fear the Fascists.

  7. Have you seen what the blind Republican apologists are saying now? They are defending the John Yoo memos and calling Obama a traitor for declassifying them.
    From Pasadena Closet Conservative:

"At the insistence of the ACLU, and in the interest of "protecting American values," the Obama Administration released a number of post-9/11 memos this week that contained sensitive military secrets related to terrorists..."

  8. In the end it is all about 'wealth distribution': our friends on the left want it spread around..our friends on the right want it concentrated in 0.25% of us.

  9. yet somehow that .25% has been dictating policy for years...odd

  11. Well Jeez Bobby, I was talking about clueless, hypocritical morons who confuse attitude and platitude with having something worthwhile to say. What did you think I meant?

Ya see - all the self styled conservatives were as wrong as can be about most every aspect of economics and policy and they just make jokes and look for scapegoats rather than admit it - sorta like -- well sorta like YOU Roberto.

I'm sure that if everyone completely stops spending anything, as many now have to do, you'll be on the bread lines long before I will, but have your little joke, I'm sure you'll find someone infantile enough to laugh -- but not here.

  12. I was content to just read the posts and comments without adding any of my sparkling wit, but just to piss off Bob: when Cramer said buy, I sold. When Obama said buy, I bought. One of the stocks got in in time to qualify for a dividend that was twice as high had I waited two days. The other company announced it's quarterly profit was up and it went up.

I got out of a mutual fund that tracked financials after the ridiculous Cramer statement. He's always wrong.

Now who should you be listening to Bob?

  13. I see Bob’s problem. According to his profile, Bob is in banking and some kind of manager for a financial institute. That explains everything!!

If you refer to my older post, UNPACKING A PACK OF PICKLED BANKERS, you’ll see why Bob is so upset. Bob has not yet found work as a talking frog.
