Threat level orange

Well it certainly won't be a surprise to anyone who thought the Bush administration was using Tom Ridge's color coded threat levels to keep his poll ratings up every time they needed a boost - like right before an election. even though he was quoted in 2004 as saying
"We don’t do politics in the Department of Homeland Security."

Ridge's new book contains at least one bombshell of a revelation according to MSNBC's Chris Matthews - yes indeed Ridge was pressured to raise the level days before the 2004 election even though there was no threat. He refused.

In rather dry and understated language he explains that he now had proof that the main concern of the administration was politics and not national security and this was the moment he decided he had to get out.

The Test of Our Times: America Under Siege...and How We Can Be Safe Again is due to be released September first. That should give the Republicans enough time to launch a smear campaign.

  1. I said this at Green Eagle as well Captain. Ridge showed his loyalty to the Bush administration by keeping quiet. For him to now be angry is hypocritical at best and criminal at worst. But in true republican fashion, he will at least make money writing about selling out his country. The man is no hero. He's a piece of crap.

  2. No real argument here. It's a bit late to be blowing whistles.

I've already been called a liar at The Reaction for posting this "out of context" and I'm still quite sure that it's going to be slime time at the RNC once again.

  3. Five years later, Ridge is telling us something we already knew! Even an Octopus has more spine.

There seems to be a new blog called "Liberal Bashing." Apparently, the purpose of the site is to stick digital pins in librul voodoos, and you will be pleased to know, we got Top Honors without feeling a thing. Okay, now who pissed them off (tisk)?

Please notice, I cleaned up our link list. The Oracular Over-Opinionated and Under-Educated has been removed.

  4. Octo,

Well, it's always nice to know one has received top honors in something. Didn't Lincoln say, "I'd just as soon not be run out of town on a rail, if it weren't for the distinction of it"?

But as for voodoo, come to think of it, I did feel like I was coming down with a cold this morning.... We'd better hope the righties don't have someone like that kid from the Twilight Zone episode who has the power to wish his enemies into the corn field.
