Chick-Fil-Ahole

"Families are very important to our country. And they're very important to those of us who are concerned about being able to hang on to our heritage. We support Biblical families, and they've always been a part of that."
Jesus, can't anybody see the logical disconnect between families being important and the right of some Bible pounding chicken plucker to interfere with the civil rights of his fellow citizens?  Freedom is important too and sure as hell, this kind of religion doesn't support freedom and has spent centuries killing people for thinking and acting free.

Well I guess not and it's just another example of how religion poisons everything; corrupts the critical faculties and undermines democracy.  Yes, it's Chicken Man Dan again "supporting Biblical Families" with a carefully extracted and deep fried opinion from a few extracts from the Greek section added on to the Hebrew Bible in the 4th Century CE.

Tradition does not convey a right, particularly a right to interfere with freedom, nor does one "tradition" have the right to declare itself official in this free country any more than the smell of frying birds conveys wisdom or power or decency.

So what about Lot's family, Abraham's family and all those Biblical examples of polygamy, romps in the sack with the serving girls, mistreatment of women, selling one's daughters into slavery and prostitution and the like?  Never mind.

Look, there's nothing that can't be supported by that pile of political hogwash written, edited, redacted and selected by ancient bastards greedy for power and that isn't being used by their smiling, Jesus plated contemporary imposters like Dan Cathy.  To be sure, he has the protected right to be an asshole, to act like he's got some special insight, to justify his petty, arrogant, small minded opinions about chicken plucking with what he calls the Bible and I call a fraud,  Indeed that's much more of a "heritage" than gay bashing, that horrible compilation of ancient ignorance having been used for every ill purpose including slavery, destruction of Native cultures and the burning of innocent women in this sad country.  And of course I have the right to call him any name I like, now that he's a public figure.

I have the right, as an American, to call him a malicious and ignorant and self-righteous idiot and we all have the right to take our hunger for greasy chicken to KFC or to that vacant lot a mile from here where they sell home made chicken, barbecue, greens, black beans and rice on the weekends and where they have a smile for everybody and mind their own goddamned Christian business.

"Chick-Fil-A Doesn't belong in Boston," says Mayor Thomas Menino. " you can't have a business in the City of Boston that discriminates against the population . . . and we're not going to have a company, Chick-Fil-A, or whatever the hell their name is, on our Freedom Trail."

Me neither, Mayor -- me neither.

  1. The chickenshit ignorance of these types is so thick you could make a sandwich out of it. Aside from that, Cathy's gambit is extremely bad business: what kind of strategy is it to turn off huge swaths of the country just because you can't keep your big beak shut about your religion or your politics? Good businesspeople don't do things like that -- they just stay polite and keep making money.

  2. I turn off my radio when I hear Lynnrd Skynnrd or Nutbag Nugent tunes. I have nothing to do with companies or individuals who spout the sort of bullshit that Cathy uses.

I almost wish I liked Chick-Fil-Anal so that I COULD boycott them.

  3. I'm not at all kidding about being afraid to show the depth and degree of my anger at a country that tolerates this -- the fair and balanced media, the religious leaders unwilling to stand up for decency and freedom while wallowing in mystery and ancient and ugly ignorance.

And I'm sick of this goddamn illegal pledge that seems to be the fashion in every club or committee meeting I go to. Children here are forced to recite it. This isn't a nation under Yawheh, Jesus, Vishnu, Allah or Zippy the wonder chimp and the people who wrote the constitution were as angry at such a proposition as I am. Perhaps that's why Jefferson and the others thought an armed population was useful. I'm willing to fight them on the beeches and in the schools and anywhere else and I will never surrender my freedom to any of these shoddy, flyblown and despicable gods or the criminals they rode in on.

  4. We don't have them up here (thank the chicken gods). For years I thought the name was pronounced "Chick Filla" and I thought it was the dumbest name ever. NOw I just think it's the dumbest company ever!

Plus I looked at the menu online. Why do people go so gaga about it? It looks like more fast food crap to me! Homophobic fast food crap. :(

  5. Did you know Chick Fil A is also a corporate bully? Check out this article link to see what they're doing to a one-man-show in Vermont. Even though this article is a few months old, Chick Fil A is still aiming to take out the "little guy." When did this become an American value?

  6. Knatolee,

I made the same mistake when I first ran into them and I once ate there on a road trip. I agree, nothing special. People will go gaga about anything they think makes them one of a popular group.

    vtgrrrl,

thanks for the link. That's absolutely pathetic and the idea that you can copyright "eat more" spelled correctly or otherwise is idiotic. The attempt to put someone out of business with empty threats is criminal and as far as I'm concerned should be prosecuted as racketeering.

When did it start? 1492 as far as I know.

  7. Captain,

Here is a bookmark I have been saving for just you: Evolution, Big Bang - 'Lies Straight From The Pit Of Hell.'

"God's word is true … All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and the big bang theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of Hell," said Broun, who is an MD. "It's lies to try to keep me and all the folks who were taught that from understanding that they need a savior."

If the above quote isn’t enough to raise your blood pressure, read the next sentence:

”Broun is a high-ranking member of the House Science Committee, of which Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) [of "Legitimate Rape" fame] is also a member.”

WTF, the House Science Committee!!! Nothing like dumbing-down the science curriculum so the next generation of kids will lose competitiveness in a global economy. I am hard pressed to find an apt metaphor or description for these people.

Their religious ecstasy reminds me of a 6-year old child who has just gotten a new toy and - bursting with Hosannas - keeps shoving the blasted toy in your face:

    “See, mommy, see!”
“Yes, I see. Now go off and play.”

Or the 2-year old who just discovered masturbation for the first time and demonstrates the newfound pleasure by rolling on the floor in the living room in front of guests. Then you have to explain to your little darling:

“I am sure it feels good, Oh Little One, but please do it in your bedroom when you are alone and by yourself - with the lights out.”

Or perhaps the family dog, knowing in advance the limits of its master, humps every guest who visits the house. If the dog could talk:

“Bark, bark, pant, pant, Come for Jesus! Bark, bark, pant, pant, Come for Jesus!”

Either these people suffer from arrested development or they have the social graces of a horny dog.

  8. All this over Chick-Fil-A. Wouldn't it be easier to just eat Turkey?

  9. RN,

The larger issue is one of DISCRIMINATION, i.e. a coordinated campaign by right-wing theo-cons to deny full rights under law to a class of citizens.

I should remind you: There was a time when segregationists fabricated Biblical claptrap to justify racism. These days, the right-wing rabble invokes religious hocum to justify homophobia, bomb women's health clinics and murder their doctors.

You don't win equal rights by eating turkey.

  10. The silly ones in this "Chick" incident, were the "Chick" supporters who also claimed they were not supporting an anti-gay agenda.
As a corporate entity "Chick" donates heavily to those elected representatives who push (write bills) an anti-gay agenda.
They must be the same crowd who went to Town Hall Health Care Meetings yelling "Get the government out of my Medicare!"

  11. "God's word is true …"

especially the parts about the waters above and below the flat earth -- and the 'firmament' to which the stars are fixed and the heaven 'above' that is close enough that one can build a mud brick tower to get to it.

    The things you are liable
    To read in the Bible
    They ain't necessarily so.

Of course a few somewhat smarter people of religious persuasion -- like the fellows who wrote our constitution, for example -- thought Nature was God's word. I agree that it is: Nature red in tooth and claw, uncaring, violent beyond all comprehension, without purpose and without concern for life or anything else. All other gods are just ventriloquist's dummies and damn if I can't see human lips moving when I hear about his "word.".
