OCTOBER AMBUSH

By (O)CT(O)PUS

The October surprise we have been expecting was more ambush than surprise. The Trojan Horse turned out to be FBI Director James Comey.  The surprise did not start in October.

It began long ago in the halls of Congress when partisanship preempted citizenship followed by years of legislative deadlock and gridlock, showdowns and shutdowns.

Politics has always been a rough and tumble business; but this election cycle is unlike any in history. Bombast, falsehoods and reckless rhetoric have pushed all standards of honesty and decency further into a savage wilderness … far from traditional norms of civilized conduct.

According to sources close to the FBI investigation, Hillary’s computer server is no longer the subject of the latest probe, nor her emails. Attention has turned to a flaccid laptop owned by Anthony Weiner of pickled pecker fame shame.

Devoid of detail, Director Comey’s notice to Congress is more Rorschach schlock than letter.  It arouses the dark id of innuendo and insinuation, unleashing fiendish wraiths from the pits of Mordor.

“Crooked Hillary … the biggest scandal ever … worse than Watergate … lock her up,” bellows the smug Scumbag Billionaire, whose words stink of mob malevolence immune to evidence.

According to a complaint filed by Richard Painter, a former ethics lawyer in the Bush administration, Director Comey failed to secure a warrant before notifying Congress. Ignoring DoJ guidelines, he committed an abuse of power in violation of the Hatch Act. Thus, one lone saboteur cast a pall over an election unjustly days away.

How a bully, charlatan, misogynist and serial sex predator made it this far is inconceivable. More astonishing are his legions of loyal followers who filter only the news they want to hear — yet remain steadfastly tone-deaf to his reckless rhetoric. Decades ago, Hannah Arendt warned of ruthless demagogues who will usurp our democratic freedoms to undermine democracy itself.

More than 2,000 years ago, Plato foresaw the demise of democracies which inevitably devolve, decline, and sink into dictatorships. Circa 2016, the signs and symptoms are clear, but you cannot reason with an angry mob.

Scumbag Billionaire has unleashed a dark and ugly populism slouching towards fascism, and worse is yet to come.

  1. From what I've heard, this is having no effect on the polls. So, if sabotage, it appears to have fallen flat. Trump is crowing about it, as you point out. I predict another nothingburger. Maybe Obama will fire Comey (for violating the Hatch Act)? Although the Trumpers will surely charge "political retribution" if he does. A site called Conservative Book Club is running a poll that asks if HRC will go to prison now. When I looked 72 percent of responding idiots said "yes".

  2. Does it really matter anymore? I mean really truly matter? America may be too far gone already.

  3. I'm coming close to that conclusion. They're not going to go away or reform or give up. It will only be worse next time; more violent, more insane. It's almost funny, the level of insanity. Looking at some comments on a Democratic blog this morning it seems the Bill Clinton, perhaps the most popular president in my lifetime - or ever - is now a pederast and it will be only a matter of hours before Hillary is a cannibal. There are now two parallel universes and I'm not sure I want to live in either.

  4. Either my comment didn't go through or Octo decided not to publish me. I'll assume the later if this one never shows up.

    1. Dervish,

Apologies for your lost post. It appears there is a problem with Google Gmail accounts. Fishy stuff happening across the Internet, I now get these messages weekly:

“Google just blocked someone from signing into your Google Account swashzone@gmail.com from an app that may put your account at risk.”

In any event, here is the lost comment, which I retrieved on your behalf from subject Gmail box:

Capt Fogg: if you belong there, I hate you too.

Not me. BTW, agree with jadedj 100 percent. Unlike with your Sanders is a commie posts (the two I saw and commented on). Anyway, I voted for Bernie in the primary and just early-voted for Hillary in the General. Not that it matters where I live. Many deplorables and/or rubes (AKA Trump supporters) in TN.

      Octo

    2. BTW, I just checked this post, America's Evil Twin, and found your comment there. Apparently there was a delay.

    3. No, I submitted two comments. The one you "retrieved" went through. There was another one that was in response to THIS post. I forget exactly what I wrote. I mentioned the Conservative Book Club poll that asked the poll takers to weigh in and say if they thought HRC was going to prison. 72 percent of the dumb-dumbs thought she was going to prison for sure. Today I got an email from Glenn Beck that said there is going to be an indictment. This one having to do with the FBI's investigation into the Clinton Foundation. You know, because it's a "slush fund" the Clinton's use to support their "lavish lifestyle".
